Speman by Himalaya Herbal Healthcare
Speman review – FAQ and answers
What is Himalaya Speman?
Speman is a herbal medicine made by Himalaya Herbal Healthcare. It contains only herbal ingredients, and no hormones, and its formulation is based the Indian Ayurvedic medical tradition. The primary function of Speman is to increase sperm count.
What is Speman used for? What does Speman do?
Speman is used to increase sperm count in men with low sperm count, mainly. It works by increasing testosterone levels which in turn can help improve sperm production. Other ingredients act on the endocrine system of the body to help improve sperm quality.
Speman also contains aphrodisiac ingredients which help stimulate sexual desire and other ingredients which can help sustain erections. It’s also sometimes used to relieve symptoms of prostatitis.
Does Speman work?
Speman has been studied a lot in India, where doctors widely prescribe it for low sperm count (oligospermia), and have been for over thirty years. Studies show that taking Speman can improve sperm count in most men with low sperm count, although one study found it most effective in men under 40.
Himalaya Herbal Healthcare have links to some studies using Speman on their website and if you just search online you’ll find others too, so you can check it out yourself.
Which is better for male fertility – Speman or Clomiphene Citrate?
One study of 160 men with low sperm count compared the effectiveness of Speman and Clomiphene Citrate (brand name Clomid) on improving male infertility. It found similar results in terms of the quality of semen and sperm and pregnancy rates of men’s partners. Unlike Clomiphene Citrate, Speman has no known side-effects.
Speman for azoospermia or erectile dysfunction (ED) or prostatitis or nightfall or premataure ejaculation (PE) ?
Speman for azoospermia (no sperm in semen) has been found to be somewhat effective for about half of azoospermic men. Some will have a few sperm in their semen and some may respond much better. For example, in one small study, two out of five men with azoospermia responded well enough to Speman for their wives then to get pregant and have children (presumably by those men and not someone else).
Speman can help with erectile dysfunction, although Tentex Forte is another Himalaya Herbal drug which is formulated more specificially to help with erectile dysfunction (ED).
Speman may help with premature ejaculation and nightfall. However, for those conditions you’re better to take Speman Forte (now called Confido) by Himayala Herbal Healthcare which is formulated specifically for that – more on that below.
As for prostatitis (enlargement of the prostate gland but not cancerous), studies in India have suggested Speman does help treat prostatitis. It’s not proven that it can actually reduce the prostate swelling, but it does seem to offer relief of some of the symptoms of prostatitis.
What is Speman Forte aka Confido?
Speman Forte is actually a different herbal formulation also made by Himalaya Herbal Healthcare. Speman Forte is now called ‘Confido’ LINK. Speman and Speman Forte/Confido have some of their ingredients and effects in common, but have differences too. Speman is targeted at improving sperm count while Speman Forte / Confido is targeted at treating ejaculatory problems and anxiety.
Can I take Confido with Speman?
It’s not clear that this would be harmful, but there doesn’t seem to be any reason to take Confido (Speman Forte) with Speman since they have many of the same ingredients, although in different amounts in each medicine.
Some of the Indian studies record doctors prescribing Tentex Forte with Speman, e.g., for low sperm count and erectile dysfunction. It’s not clear though if the two are more effective together or would be fine separately, and it’s best to always check with a doctor before combining drugs, even herbal ones.
Who can take Speman?
Speman is for men with low sperm count who want to increase it (Himalaya Herbals say it “gives hope to childless couples”). Since it can also help stimulate libido and improve erections, some men take it for those reasons. But it’s primary indication is oligospermia (low sperm count).
So far no contraindications have been reported, although it’s always good to check with your doctor before taking a new medicine, even a herbal one.
When to take Speman? How to take Speman? What is the Speman dosage?
Online pharmacies recommend taking one tablet two or three times a day initially, followed by a reduced dose to maintain its effects. This is similar to the doses used in studies of Speman. In studies, Speman is used usually for a few months.
What are Speman side effects?
Speman has no known side effects if you stick to the recommended doses.
